Video: Cooked hot dogs at the volcano
Bata Osovina and Tata Osovina have recently posted videos on their social media where they are very close to the volcanic eruption at Sundhnúkagígar crater row.
In one video that has been very popular, they show how they cook hot dogs on a pan with the help of the heat from the lava.
Almost 14 thousand users have downloaded the video of their “lava” cooking.
Warns of increased public access to eruption sites
It was reported last Friday that a working group had been set up to examine the increased accessibility of tourists to the volcano.
Víðir Reynisson, the Director of Civil Protection, has warned against the idea of opening up access to the eruption site for tourists.
The area is defined as a hazardous zone by the Icelandic Met Office.
On Saturday, a group of people were lost at the eruption site and rescue teams had to be called out to find the people.
Sunday night, a Dacia Duster was reported to be stuck in the lava field, but no rescue services had been requested.
