US couple recovered from Lake Þingvallavatn dead

All efforts to resuscitate the couple rescued from Lake Þingvellir in South Iceland yesterday were in vain. They were pronounced dead last night. According to the wishes of their next of kin their names are not published in media. 

The couple were in their forties and were fishing in Villingavatn which is actually a small lake just at the south end of Lake Þingvallavatn. 

South Iceland Police in cooperation with the Reykjavik Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident
