Yellow alert: Storm expected this afternoon

 A storm will hit South and South East Iceland this afternoon. The alert has been put to yellow from Seljalandsfoss to Jökulsárlón. Expected windgusts are up to 35 metres and the weather warning is valid from 3 pm until night 

Later today there will be a storm on the mountain roads of Hellisheiði and Mosfellsheiði as well as Kjalarnes. Beneath the Eyjafjöll mountains the storm will hit at 5 pm whereas in South East Iceland at Öræfi, it will start at 3 pm. 

Roads are very icy in South and South West Iceland and the above roads could become impassable. People are urged to refrain from travel during these hours and to follow updates carefully on the Road Administration web page HERE.
